Awesome stuff. Plus the guy is spot on on Religulous by Bill Maher. This is my area of expertise. And having studied in the Middle East, having watched Zeitgeist, and read the God Delusion, I laugh off people like Maher & Dawkins.
You can laugh off Maher and Dawkins all you want. But there is little evidence Jesus ever existed, and even less evidence (as in none) that he was the son of god, born of a virgin, or resurrected, let alone all three.
I stated that there is little proof Jesus existed, which you've nicely summarized. However, even if he did exist, that doesn't make the crucial claims true: that he was the son of god, born of a virgin, and resurrected.
"However, even if he did exist, that doesn't make the crucial claims true: that he was the son of god, born of a virgin, and resurrected."
I'll give you that much. However, your assertion that Jesus never existed requires proof that you're not providing. As I've said, you made the claim and the onus is on you to back it up.
The claim is that Jesus existed, my position is that there is not sufficient evidence to accept it. If I told you there was no invisible unicorn behind you, would you ask me to prove it?
No serious academic scholar refutes that Jesus existed. Also, no serious academic scholar refutes that he resurrected from the dead. To say otherwise is due to a lack of knowledge of historical evidences. We can get into his divinity later on, but debating his existence is outside the realm of accepted historical fact.

Please do your research before making ignorant comments and making yourself look bad.

I have done my research. If you have some evidence, you should probably share it.

Nope. You're the one asserting a claim (that Jesus never existed), therefore the burden of proof lies with you.

We're going in circles here and the comments are getting too skinny to produce a good conversation. So until next time, have a good one.

I agree. You have a good one, too.

Hrm... we'll have to fix this. We've never had comments nested 12 deep before... :)

Proof that Jesus does exist and if we don't watch it he'll make our comments skinny. I say onto you believe, and have wide comments! ;-)
