The universe doesn't "care," you are right. The universe will go on existing regardless of what attitude you or anyone else chooses to carry. But we are energy; energy with the ability to comprehend, rationalize, and reason. By choosing to live a good life and exude positive energy into the universe surrounding you, it will make that space a better place.
Why do I care about making the universe a better place? Energy can't reason either...reason assumes an objective and consistent set of laws...energy can't provide that.
