Clinton should have been impeached. (He was impeached for perjury, I believe, during testimony over his sexual affair). But anytime we find out an elected official had sex across such disparate power lines (he was the goddamn president, she was an intern) we should be concerned about coercive rape (or as decent people call it, rape). Given, it was turned into a circus, but being concerned about how elected officials use their power, in and out of official capacity is a fundamental responsibility of citizens in a democracy. I say this as a huge Clinton supporter. Sanford had no power over his mistress. He was a governor and she lived in a different country.
All of that does nothing to talk about how the media is racist. No good deed goes unpunished.
The thing with Sanford is, as with Clinton, he lied about the accusations. And Sanford says he didn't use government funds, but paid the $10,000+ that was alleged he used, thats a bit sketchy. Who would pay back funds they didn't use. Not to mention how he basically ran the state into the ground beforehand.

Media is part of it. But in the case of Sanford and Weiner they are elected. The other guy isn't. The votes speak for themselves.

Sadly. I live in SC and consider Sanford an embarrassment. Clinton does it, he gets impeached, Sanford does it, he gets re-elected. Seems legit.
