Things I did not know as a Tennessean:
Parts of the Great Smoky Nat'l Park are classified as a rainforest.
The Eastern Hemlock is considered the redwood of the Eastern US.
-I never really thought of Tennessee as being that majestic of an outdoor place. I remember being told in elementary school that there were no rainforests in the US. When I moved to Washington and hiked in the Hoh, I was in awe. I'm shocked to learn that my homestate had such great biodiversity. I really think that if we were taught these things as kids we'd have a greater pride in our outdoor scene and conservation.
