A pic of me inside one of the WW2 German bunkers at Pointe du Hoc. The gun battery here was famously stormed by the US 2nd Rangers on D-Day who landed by sea, climbed the 100ft cliffs under fire, overran the German positions only to find the 155mm guns had been moved inland. Rangers being Rangers, a group of them fought their way inland, found the guns and destroyed them. However, the Rangers had to hold the position against numerous German counter-attacks for about 3 days before they were finally relieved by the 29th Division.
