During a recent performance at Vanderbilt University, freshman and pianist Michael Pollack asked Billy Joel if he could accompany him on stage to perform together. Joel hesitated for a moment but then said yes. So, in a magical impromptu moment, Pollack played piano and Joel sang “New York State of Mind” together for the surprised crowd.
