My Mother-In-Law would shite. She (from Aberdeen, Scotland) proclaims that Scotch is a drink- Scots are people. The term Scotch-Irish seems to be strictly a North American term. This is not a correction, just an interesting bit of conversation.

Haha I like that. Your correct, It is strictly North American, as I am an American. But I am proud of my heritage. I believe the Europen term is Ulster Scots. In the 17th and 18th century my family immigrated to the U.S. from Ulster to Pennsylvania, then to parts of Appalachia, finally to Ohio.

I always thought it was just Scots-Irish. I'm a mutt myself, German, Scottish Irish, little more German, some Polish, and it's rumored a little bit of Native American but no proof.
