Look up economic mobility. Only 5% of people below the poverty line stay there. Not everyone can be billionaires or even millionaires. Just because someone is wealthy does not mean they received their money illegally, or by hurting someone else. Wealth creation is not a zero sum game where someone has to loose for so done to get rich contrary to what the progressive left would have you think. And frankly if you didn't earn it then you aren't entitled to any of it.

I call 'bunk'.
Demonizing the top 1% isn't going to help. The wealthiest Americans pay the vast majority of the taxes and they will always find to make money.
What's depressing the rest of the country is our overreaching government. They want us enslaved to them, so they can remain in power.
I quote Winston Churchill here, "for a nation to tax itself to prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket trying to lift himself up by the handle."

Interesting and somewhat depressing for the bottom rungs, but I don't agree with the idea that government needs a solution for this disparity. Our money is ours, despite where we fall on the scale. While many of the wealthy hoard this money, many are realizing that they can't possibly find use for it and are gladly giving it away. See http://givingpledge.org/">http://givingpledge.org/. Government mandates and entitlements should never replace the freedom of charitable giving.

I agree with all the above comments. There was a time in this country where success was admired. Today (and especially with our current "president"), those who are successful are demonized. As a member of the medical community and a practicing clinician, I feel I have a qualified understanding of one particular group that is always demonized---doctors. When someone thinks of a doctor, they think fancy cars, million dollar home and long days on the golf course. For the most part, doctors do have very nice lifestyle. I won't dispute that. But what most people don't see is what it took to get there. Four years of undergraduate college, four years of grueling medical school, and then and much as eight more years of residency. THEN....student loans. For most docs, they don't get to enjoy the fruits of their labor until they are in their 40's. BUT, to hear Obama or your average "Occupy Wall St." free loader, every rich/successful person simply sacrificed a virgin and sold their mother to a sex slave to get where they are. Personally, I worked my ass off to get my medical degree. While all my buddies were back home partying, I was in the library studying. I sacrificed a lot. So when I tell here some lazy bum who is sitting at home drawing "disability" because he broke his little toe 10 years and he suffered "mental anguish" because of it, I don't feel one iota of guilt when I say "Get a damn job".
