Having served with a few Servicemembers which where in the closet due to the antiquated policy of Don't ask Don't Tell It really makes me happy to see these two individuals expressing themselves.
After all they are protecting freedom of speech and putting their lives on the line for the benefit of many others.

Kevin,
Having served with some great soldiers that where extraordinary and gay I could never get use to the hypocrisy of sending soldier to war and not letting them express themselves.
But I do understand that Sadly for many people they will have an issue with this!

this was all over pinterest. didn't expect to see it here. the agenda is relentless. we live in a devolving culture.

archer...
The only thing devolving is when we have to go to war for material reasons.
Love is love. If you can't see it that way that is fine I respect that. But please respect those that want to live their live to their fullest and feel differently than you.
A culture devolves when they lose respect for others.

I don't really see respecting different groups of people as the devolving of anything.

There's nothing disrespectful about being gay.

Hate over Triumph!
Respect is something you earn and with your arguments you are quickly losing the respect I had already granted you on your first comment.

This makes me want to get off of Gentlemint now. I completely agree with Archer. This is not manly and it is not loving. It is sexual immorality. Period.

Seth,
I know more Gay men that are as much of a Man as you are maybe more.
Sexual preference has nothing to do with gender. Keep your facts straight.
One thing is religious beliefs the other one is something being inmoral. The only thing inmoral of the picture was the war that one of the people in the photo was sent to fight.

Seth,
On another note not sure how you tie my thoughts with Gentlemint as a complete platform.

Yup! Have to agree with archer and seth on this one. For human kind to survive and carry on there has to be procreation. Since men with men or women with women cant procreate its unnatural and by definition perverse. So when perversion is acceptable behavior within a society then you begin to have a devolution of a moral society. The same as it being acceptable and encouraged to wave a 40x20 gay pride flag on public land yet in the same breath clamor to have a Cross on public land torn down.

You are all free to share your opinions. I served the military for 8 years and I don't forget the issues and added stress these individuals went through to conform to what are more religious views than moral issues.
Freedom of expression is a beautiful thing.
I suppor the gay community as much as I support the right of those who respect the views of others.
Have any of you criticizing in a negative way the image served in your military?
Separation of Religion and State is a privilege we supposedly go by in the U.S. Keep that in mind!

With regards to the manliness of this image, please do youtube Steve Hughes.
Kevin's right, it'll take getting used to. We aren't used to seeing it. It will make us uncomfortable. But so what? Be uncomfortable. Grow.

My first visit to gentlmint this is not what I expected. If as you say we need to accept this I disagree. If these 2 people want to be together then do so in a more respectable way. For a grown "man" to jump into another "mans" arms like a child what is manly about that? My wife and I do not conduct ourselves in this manner in public out of respect for others and ourselves.

With all due respect James, it sounds like you were never away from your wife for 2 years with the possibility of death... If she didn't jump into your arms when she first saw you, that would be sad.

Hey Portera,
Along the lines of procreation, does this mean women who can't bear children or men who are sterile are not allowed to marry either? If all were are hear to do is procreate then how "unnatural" is that?
Why stop our support for military personnel when we find out they are gay? Just remember, there is a reason why you have the freedoms to say what you can say. These guys are out there making sure that never ends.
It's going to be ok.

James comes along to pretend that he's just objecting to the one guy jumping in the others arms. I can't believe how many homophobic bigots there are on the thread of comments. I'm gay and I'm not going to wait the rest of my life for you simpleminded cowards to catch up to me. Maybe if some of you were real men you could take an adult view of adult sexuality. Stop picking and choosing pieces of a 2000 year old book. Grow up. Trust me, procreation is never going to go out of style. That's just what they tell you on right wing radio to keep you scared.
REAL men aren't bothered by this photo because they're secure in their sexuality. Try to get your pathetic minds around that.

yes I have been away from my wife for extended periods of time that does not mean you do not conduct yourselves in an appropriate manner.
Maybe the main culprit in this whole conversation is the news media for making a picture such as this news worthy.
No I'm not homophobic or a bigot I just think that a persons sex life should be kept in the bedroom and not in the news. Maybe its a generation thing also but I don't have to accept it the same as you don't have to accept my veiws. I believe this is one of the things this soldier is sworn to defend. So I have my opinions and you have yours

James. I'm sorry if you felt my epithets didn't apply to you. I don't think I would run and jump in anyones arms either in public. The point for me was that if it was a woman you wouldn't even notice or comment on it. Right? Picture of a women solider around a man - whatever...didn't even notice it. When you're gay this sounds like a double standard. You get used to other people saying I don't want to see it, get it away from me, etc. as part of a continuum of intolerance. Im sorry that's inconvenient for you. These two guys are having what was a private moment. Yes it is newsworthy because of the don't ask don't tell repeal. I do get where your coming from. Different opinions.
