There was a study a few years back about birds where the more successful maters had more or darker blue on their wings. Researchers took the low t birds (hormone levels had been measured on the stud birds and the low t's) and with a Sharpie enhanced their blue. The result was low t birds became studs, got all the chicks and tests showed they were now high t. Even their song changed, All The Young Dudes (okay made up the song but... cool study).
