Raised Floor

I'm thinking about doing this in my apartment, but in the bedroom so the raised floor is surrounding the bed. It would give the bed the impression of stepping down into a lowered area. Now, I'm a college student, so my version is a little different. It's a very small room, and instead of an actual raised floor, I would just put an old door down on the ground and lay some carpeting down on top of it.
