The Star Trek before this? Best reset EVER! Not like The Amazing Spider Man, which completely ignored the comic book. You are much better off with the Tobey Maguire version. Anyway, Abrams covered every detail of the original I can think of where director Marc Webb ignored everything about Spiderman (except the web shooters).

I don't think the Amazing Spiderman movie was that bad. It followed the Ultimate Spiderman reboot in the comics very well. Peter is supposed to be younger in that. Yes it's not a following of the old school Spiderman but I think it was still a good movie, even as a fan of the old school webslinger. Also totally agree with these reboots of Star Trek. I've had people say that they are atrocities to the originals, but... have you ever seen the first Star Trek movie? As a DIE HARD Trekkie I am comfortable saying that it really sucked. Wrath of Kahn was amazing. Voyage Home was phenomenal. And Undiscovered Country is still my favorite Trek film ever. But I love all the nods to old Trek fans in these new movies and the visuals are just stunning. Totally agree with you sir!
Also if you are interested in a very good (unofficial) short film about Eddie Brock from the Toby Maguire version. Check this out.
