We've featured a copper moonshine still in the past, and this stainless steel version is a much cheaper alternative. It's much smaller, but definitely a good choice for someone wanting to give a beginner a try.
This still setup is very easy to use, and requires no running water (like other DIY stills). No need for complex cooling tubes and the like. Each batch could yield 7 ounces of hard alcohol at 12% proof (like wine), and 12 ounces of hard alcohol.
