It never hurts to be prepared, and the Schrade SCAXE2 Survival Hatchet fits that bill. This axe is has many features that are attractive for camping and survival. The axe is durable and versatile, perfect for just about any problem you can throw at it while out in nature.
The blade is tiny, just under 4 inches in length, and is made from Titanium coated stainless steel. On the back of the head is a hammer pommel, ideal for pounding in tent stakes. The handle is made from cold-resistant glass fiber and thermoplastic rubber, which adds a nice ergonomic and comfortable touch to the swing of the axe.
Inside the base of the handle is a ferro rod for starting fires. Just use the head as a striking surface for the rod to provide the sparks you need to build a roaring campfire in nearly any weather condition. Lastly, the axe comes with a thermoplastic sheath.
For all the features that this axe has, it still doesn’t weigh very much, clocking in at 3 pounds total.
