Anyone with a son needs to take this message to heart. I wish I had been given this advice when I was a young adult. Not that I would have followed it necessarily but at least that I could have heard the concept to ponder it.
But maybe it's because for a while, I followed the this path of not growing up (and by 24 I was SO annoyed at myself that I started to do something about it) that it resonates.
But it is also my opinion that another aspect that makes this so good is that much of what he talks about, I have at some point been aware of through self observation. JP just eloquently and with fatalistic humor voices these concepts.

Thanks for share this. Now I've been watching Jordan Peterson's YouTube Channel. This guy is a great speaker.

Glad you like it. There are many channels with his stuff, and I'll be honest, I prefer the channel "Bite-sized Philosophy" because it comes in shorter clips. Much longer than that, JBP can be too dense for me to really get the depth of some of his ideas.
And on a second point, listening to him has helped me in my approach to my kids and my self-awareness. If this is your first introduction to JBP, I am truly honored.

Indeed, this was my very first exposure to this great gentleman- philosopher. I agree with his concepts and in a tangent line of thinking I am grateful for websites like gentlemint and other's that are singularly geared nay even devoted to manly topics and the preservation of the concept of healthy male contribution to society. This focus is especially needful in a time when because of the dichotomy of Peter-Pans/Cap'n Hooks give a repulsive impression to culture at large. I submit that culture's reaction to Pan and Hook is to label manliness as either useless (Pan) or toxic (Hook), and to extinguish or supress it altogether.
Great post! Thanks Chet.

Really glad you liked it. I agree completely and I also love the places where manliness something to which I can aspire.
I also like Jocko Willick. Here is a podcast episode where he interviews JBP. The first few minutes are rough to listen to, but worth if for them to discuss it's meaning. I love how they focus on self improvement.

Truly an honor.
I'm buying two of Jocko's books for my nephew: Extreme Ownership and Discipline Equals Freedom.
I plan to read them before I pass them along to him. And I'll post thoughts on a page in the parlor, or just message you back here is there is anything worth mentioning.

Simply one of the finest YT videos I've had the pleasure of watching.
I'm now nearly two hours into one Jocko Willink's podcast interview with Mr Peterson.
Thank you for sharing this.
