I would like to add Starship Troopers to this list. I know, I know, they already made one - but it was awful and so far removed from the book as to be classified a travesty of story telling. Read it! It is truly wonderful and would make a great movie if done correctly.
I did read Starship Troopers but it didn't make the list because it was already a movie. I would love to see a better take on it though. I tend to think it would be better done as a Scifi version of Full Metal Jacket.
I'm very much looking forward to Ender's Game, which should be released on Nov 1. I read it to my kids at night, we should finish it just before movie time! (my 3rd time reading it...)

I would love to see Ring World, Red Mars, The Forever war and Rendezvous with Rama as films.
